Adani Power has revised its long-term target to reach 41.87 GW of installed generation capacity by FY32, with a significant capital expenditure commitment of Rs two lakh crore.
This move marks a sharp increase from the company’s earlier plan of 30.67 GW by FY30. Currently, Adani Power operates 18.15 GW of generation capacity, with an additional 23.72 GW secured, including land and key equipment orders already in place. This expansion plan comes as India anticipates a major rise in electricity demand, driven by industrial growth and urbanisation.
The company’s focus is on thermal power, which continues to provide essential baseload supply and grid-balancing support, despite the rapid expansion of renewable energy. An official from Adani Power emphasised, "Our expansion strategy is designed to meet the rising energy needs of the country and ensure energy security while contributing to sustainable growth."
