GE Vernova T&D India has received a letter of award (LoA) from Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) for the refurbishment of the 2x500 MW HVDC Chandrapur back-to-back link connecting Northern and Southern India.
The order involves upgrading the HVDC Thyristor Valves along with the HVDC Controls and Protection systems. The refurbishment will be carried out over multiple years and covers the complete design, supply, and execution of the project. This initiative is aimed at enhancing the efficiency, reliability, and performance of the HVDC link, which is a critical part of India’s power transmission network.
The order underscores GE Vernova T&D India’s growing role in supporting the modernisation of the country’s energy infrastructure and highlights its technical expertise in executing large-scale high-voltage direct current projects that strengthen grid stability and capacity.
