Great Wall Motors (GWM) has entered a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Maharashtra government.
The MoU officially announced the investment in the state-of-the-art automotive manufacturing facility in Talegaon, Maharashtra.
The plant will be equipped with latest world-class technology and along with the research and development (R&D) centre in Bengaluru, Karnataka, will generate employment for over 3,000 people in a phased manner.
It will be a highly automated plant in Talegaon with advanced robotics technology integrated in many of the production processes. Located in Talegaon Industrial Park, it covers an area of around 300 acre and is close to the expressway. It is about 45 km from Pune city and about 100 km from Mumbai Port.
The company is committed to invest USD one billion in India in a phased manner, which is directed towards manufacturing premium products, R&D centre, building supply chain and providing jobs.
GWM had signed an agreement to acquire the plant from GM in January 2020. The factory has facilities like logistics distribution centre, training centre, project management building, administrative office building and public facilities centre.
