Gammon India is likely to commence work on the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh Transmission Line by June 2015.
Gammon was awarded the contract for tower Package-TW01 for 220 kV S/C Alusteng (Srinagar)-Drass transmission line (Part-I) by Power Grid Corporation of India, in August 2014. The contract value is Rs 204.76 crore.
The Alusteng (Srinagar)-Drass transmission line is part of the Srinagar-Kargil-Leh Transmission Line project which is estimated to cost Rs 1,840 crore. The project envisages laying of 220 kV transmission line from Alusteng in Srinagar to Leh via Drass, Kargil and Khalsti in Jammu & Kashmir.
