Gateway Distriparks Ltd (GDL) plans
to invest Rs.26 crore in expansion of its warehousing facility in the Dronagiri
special economic zone at Nhava Sheva in Maharashtra. This would be the third
phase of development of GDL’s facility.
GDL’s warehousing facility, spread
over an area of over 30,000 square metres, includes cargo handling equipment
for storage, transport and retrieval of cargo and a computerised network for
warehouse and inventory. GDL handles over 7,500 TEUs of import / export cargo
every month. Phase III of the project would enhance the capacity to over 14,000
TEUs per month.
GDL has been promoted by a
consortium of Singapore-based companies – Thakral Corporation, Windmill
International and Parameswara Holding – along with an Indian firm – Newsprint
Trading and Sales Corporation. GDL caters to the logistics needs of leading
shipping lines, freight forwarders, cargo consolidators and logistics
companies.
Meanwhile, Infrastructure
Development Finance Company (IDFC) has picked up 21 per cent stake in GDL.
