The West Bengal government is likely to float a
global tender by February 2006, for the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR)
for the proposed second airport in Kolkata. The preliminary study for the
airport project is underway.
Consulting Engineers Services (CES) is in the
process of preparing the pre-feasibility study for the project that is likely
to be completed by February 2006. The project is expected to be developed
through public-private partnership or entirely through private investment.
The infrastructure companies of Singapore and
Dubai are also invited to participate in the airport project, once the DPR for
the project is complete. These companies are expected to invest in proposed
health city near airport.
KMDA is also preparing the DPR for the health
city project and the acquisition for the 100-acre plot is in progress.
