The government has opened the application window for the fourth time under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for white goods, inviting companies to apply between September 15 and October 14.
The scheme, notified in April 2021, offers four to six percent incentives on incremental sales for manufacturing components of air conditioners and LED lights. It will run till 2028-29 with a total outlay of Rs 6,238 crore, of which Rs 287 crore has already been disbursed. According to DPIIT, the reopening reflects growing industry confidence and rising demand in India’s AC and LED manufacturing.
Both new applicants and existing beneficiaries seeking to expand or diversify investments are eligible. Since launch, 83 applicants with committed investments worth Rs 10,406 crore have been approved, including Voltas, Blue Star, Hindalco, Daikin, Hitachi, Panasonic and LG. Overall, the PLI scheme launched in 2020 now spans 14 sectors with an outlay of Rs 1.97 lakh crore, disbursing Rs 21,534 crore till June 2025.
