In a strategic move to address implementation delays, the Commerce and Industry Ministry held a high-level meeting under the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) mechanism to review 22 critical issues affecting 18 major infrastructure projects worth over Rs 36,296 crore in Gujarat and Rajasthan.
One of the most significant initiatives reviewed was the transmission system strengthening scheme for the evacuation of solar power from renewable energy zones in the two states. This project, with an investment outlay of Rs 14,147 crore, is designed to integrate solar energy into the national grid through the development of high-capacity transmission lines and substations, the Ministry stated.
Praveen Mahto, Principal Economic Adviser, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), chaired the meeting, He emphasised the need for private sector project proponents to fully utilise the PMG platform to accelerate infrastructure implementation. The meeting also addressed Reliance Jio’s 5G and 4G expansion project, aimed at enhancing mobile connectivity in remote areas.
Discussions with state governments included expediting clearances, particularly those related to forest land use.
