The government has sanctioned Rs 93.56 crore for reinforcing vulnerable embankments along NH-154A in Himachal Pradesh, specifically the Chakki-BanikhetChamba-Bharmour road in Chamba district.
This decision follows repeated damage caused by monsoons, with plans for phased repairs and long-term maintenance until 2032. The project aims to address erosion, landslides, and safety risks for commuters. Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh emphasised the state's persistent efforts to secure financial aid, and that the Union Ministry of Road Transport & Highways has now issued technical and administrative approval after examining the detailed proposal submitted by the Public Works Department. He added, "The project will be executed under close monitoring to avoid delays and cost overruns."
The repairs are scheduled for 30 percent completion by 2025-26, with full physical completion in 2026-27, ensuring lasting protection and highway durability.
