The Andhra Pradesh government has intensified efforts to construct a 190-km-long Outer Ring Road (ORR) around Amaravati, aiming to boost connectivity and economic development in the capital region.
The proposed ORR will feature a six-lane main carriageway along with two service roads on either side, significantly enhancing transportation infrastructure. A detailed project report (DPR) prepared by the Highways Authority has been submitted to the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) for review. The project, estimated to cost Rs 24,791 crore, will be implemented in 12 phases once approved. The state government is contributing Rs 3,117 crore, mainly for land acquisition and facilities.
Designed to surpass Hyderabad’s 158-km ORR in length, the Amaravati ORR is positioned as a critical driver of regional growth. Officials believe the road will streamline mobility, attract investments, and open up new development zones.
