Graphite India (GIL), graphite electrode manufacturer ,has revised its
expansion plan which is expected to take its overall capacity to around one lakh
tpa.
Under the revised plan, GIL is planning to raise the capacity of its Durgapur
plant in West Bengal from earlier planned 10,500 to 20,000 tpa now. The
additional capacity of 9,500 tpa is likely to be added at an investment of Rs
67.5 crore. The proposed expansion is likely to be completed in 18 months.
GIL's total manufacturing capacity of approximately 78,000 tpa is spread over
four plants at Durgapur (34,000 tpa), Bangalore (13,000 tpa), Nashik in
Maharshtra (13,000 tpa) and Nurnberg in Germany (18,000 tpa ).
Also, GIL is setting up a 50 MW plant in Durgapur at an investment of Rs 214
crore.
