Grofers, an online grocery delivery service, has drawn up plans to expand its warehousing capacity at an investment of Rs 280 crore.
The expansion will take place within the next 18 months.
At present, it has a storage capacity of 2.1 million sq ft and it will be raised to 2.5 million sq ft by December 2019 and to 3.5 million sq ft by December 2020.
Grofers has 25 warehouses across 10 cities. The company plans to add seven more warehouses by December 2019.
The expansion will cost around Rs 80 crore for Phase-I and Rs 200 crore for Phase-II. The new warehouses will come up in Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.
Moreover, the company has raised Rs 1,400 crore and most of the funding will be deployed towards infrastructure development.
