Gujarat Pipavav has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with NYK to support India's growing vehicle exports and automotive logistics, with a focus on electric vehicles (EVs).
The partnership aims to enhance RoRo (Roll-on/Roll-off) infrastructure at Gujarat's Pipavav Port, which is vital for handling up to 5,00,000 vehicles annually. This initiative prioritizes reducing dwell time and improving the synchronisation between vessels and rail systems to manage increasing rail volumes at the port.
Pipavav Port, located in Amreli, Gujarat, plays a key role as a multi-cargo hub and serves as a major gateway on India's west coast. It connects international shipping lines and facilitates cargo movement across India’s north and northwest regions. As the port continues to grow, the focus remains on sustainability and efficiency in logistics, with NYK stating that "advancing sustainable and more efficient logistics is a key priority for both partners.
