HCL Technologies has signed a
memorandum of understanding on 20 February 2007 with the Maharashtra government
for allotment of 170 acre of land at a Nagpur-based SEZ. The company would
invest Rs.1,000 crore to set up an IT campus in the SEZ.
HCL is setting up its base in Nagpur
and expects it to be operational by 2010. The Mihan SEZ at Nagpur has received
formal approval from the Ministry of Commerce. Many a IT companies including HCL
will set in the 1,475 ha dedicated for SEZ out of the 4,025 ha of MIHAN land.
HCL's project is being established on 140 acres with 30 acres are allocated for
the residential premises for their staff.
The MADC is developing a multi-modal
international air cargo hub (MIHAN) which is a first of its kind project in
India. The state government has formed an SPV comprising MADC and Airport
Authority of India to implement the MIHAN project. The MADC will provide basic
infrastructure like roads, water supply, sewage system and telecommunication in
the next 24 months to HCL and also supply power from its own power project in
the SEZ within next 36 months.
