The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Army for the transfer of 160 acres of defence land to construct two elevated corridors in Secunderabad. The project aims to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the Secunderabad Cantonment area. Construction is set to begin by the end of July 2025 and is expected to be completed within 2.5 years, by the end of 2027.
The two elevated corridors will stretch from Paradise to Shamirpet and Paradise to Dairy Farm Road along Medchal Road. As per the MoU, the Telangana government will provide 330 acres of land in Jawaharnagar and other areas in return for the 160 acres of defence land. “Work on the construction of compound walls and related Army infrastructure will begin soon,” officials stated.
The Paradise-Shamirpet corridor will require 114 acres of defence land and 78 acres of private land, while the Paradise-Dairy Farm Road corridor will require 42 acres of defence land and 13 acres of private land. The project also includes two underground tunnels near Begumpet Airport and Hakimpet Air Force Station for strategic connectivity and safety.
