Haier India is likely to begin manufacturing air conditioners and washing
machines in India as it looks to expand its product range by 2012.
The company is in the process of investing Rs 100 crore to set up a new line
to manufacture air conditioners and washing machines at its Pune facility. It
will also provide additional capacity to produce refrigerators at the plant. The
new line is to be operational by August 2010 and will able to manufacture around
4.75 lakh units by December 2010.
Currently, the company assembles air conditioners and washing machines in the
plant. The facility makes around four lakh units of refrigerators.
