Haryana's Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi has announced the state’s plan to launch a city gas distribution (CGD) policy aimed at promoting the development of natural gas infrastructure.
The policy, designed to attract both public and private investments in pipeline and distribution networks, will enhance energy security and encourage cleaner energy use across industries and households. Rastogi emphasized that the policy would ensure fair competition, consumer safety, and ease of business, positioning Haryana as a leader in sustainable energy. He added, “The expansion of the CGD network will reduce the state’s dependence on crude oil while promoting cleaner alternatives.”
The new draft policy, expected to be finalised by 2025, simplifies permissions for companies and introduces a transparent fee structure. The Industries and Commerce Department will oversee implementation, updating the previous 2010 policy to meet current technological needs.
