The Haryana Government has given a go ahead to four projects involving
construction of low height dams in the state costing Rs 396.80 crore.
The dams are Kaushalya dam, Dangrana dam, Dewanwala dam and Chhamla dam on
river Ghaggar and its tributaries to prevent wasteful flow of water and loss to
property by flood during the monsoon.
The state government had chalked out a comprehensive plan costing Rs 180
crore to construct Kaushalya Dam in Panchkula district having catchment area of
77 Sq km and reservoir area of 1.06 sq km. The dam is being constructed on river
Kaushalya opposite HMT Complex near Pinjore in Panchkula. The length of the dam
is 1,435 mtrs with height of dam 34 mtrs. The storage capacity of the Dam is
likely to be 1,293 ha-m.
