The Himachal Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has approved the construction of a world-class township at Shitalpur near Chandigarh.
The township, set to be built in the Baddi area of Solan district, will include top-tier amenities. To facilitate this, 3,400 bigha of land will be transferred to the housing department, with plans to acquire more private or forest land for the project. Industries Minister Harshvardhan Chauhan stated that the township would feature world-class infrastructure. In addition, the Cabinet decided to fill 53 posts of assistant professors and 121 other positions across the state's medical colleges to strengthen healthcare.
The Cabinet also approved the creation of a University of Multidisciplinary Institute at Ghumarwin in Bilaspur district, aiming to promote a digitally skilled workforce. Furthermore, a disaster risk reduction project with the French Development Agency, valued at Rs 892 crore, was approved. Amendments to the Himachal Pradesh Real Estate Rules were also passed to improve transparency in the sector.
