Hindustan Zinc is set to launch the first phosphate fertiliser manufacturing facility in both Rajasthan and North India, with an investment of around Rs 5,000 crore.
The plant, located in Chittorgarh, aims to address the fertiliser supply-demand imbalance in the region and reduce dependency on imports and long-distance transportation. Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal shared the news at the Pravasi Rajasthani Divas event, highlighting the benefits to local farmers, including enhanced crop yields and agricultural productivity. “We have completed 80% of the plant, and it is expected to be operational within the next three months,” he stated.
The facility will be constructed in two phases, with a total annual production capacity of one million tonne. It will manufacture key fertilisers such as di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), nitrogen-phosphorus-potassium (NPK), and ammonium phosphate sulphate, all vital for supporting crop growth in diverse agricultural areas. Additionally, Hindustan Zinc is working to support small and medium zinc industries by establishing the Zinc International Industrial Park, which will accommodate 200 new industries. Agarwal emphasized that this project aligns with the Atma Nirbhar Bharat initiative, creating significant employment opportunities.
