In 2025, Greater Hyderabad is set to witness a transformative infrastructure overhaul under the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure (H-CITI) programme, spearheaded by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. The program focuses on enhancing urban mobility and infrastructure to tackle traffic congestion and improve overall quality of life.
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has proposed 38 projects worth Rs 7,032 crore, targeting grade separators, flyovers, underpasses, road widening, and junction development. These initiatives are based on the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority's (HMDA) Comprehensive Traffic Study, which identified critical congestion points. The aim is to create road network, reduce travel times, boost average journey speeds from 15 km/h to 35 km/h, and lower fuel consumption and pollution levels.
dditionally, 40 projects under the Strategic Nala Development Programme-II (SNDP-II) with a budget of Rs 667.28 crore, and 41 projects under the National Disaster Mitigation Fund (NDMF) costing Rs 291.80 crore, will improve the stormwater and disaster mitigation infrastructure in the city. The completion of six pending Strategic Road Development Programme (SRDP) projects, including key flyovers and road over bridges (RoBs), is also prioritised.
