Hyundai Motor India (HMIL) has officially commenced production at its newly refurbished Talegaon manufacturing facility in Pune district, Maharashtra, starting 01 October, 2025.

Located in the MIDC Industrial Area, the plant has an annual installed capacity of 1,70,000 passenger vehicles. Originally established by General Motors in 2008, the facility produced Chevrolet models, serving both domestic and export markets until GM’s exit from India in 2017. Following a period of idleness after 2020, Hyundai acquired the plant in 2023, including land, buildings, and machinery, and upgraded it to meet global manufacturing standards.

The addition of Talegaon complements Hyundai’s existing Sriperumbudur plant in Tamil Nadu, which produces over 7,00,000 units annually, bringing HMIL’s total production capacity in India to over 8,70,000 units per year. This strategic expansion strengthens Hyundai’s position as the second-largest carmaker in India, supporting domestic demand and export growth.
