Malaysia's IJM Corp received on 7 March 2005 a Rs.553 crore contract from NHAI for the development of the 108-km Mahua-Jaipur stretch on NH-11 in Rajasthan. The project is part of NHDP-Phase III.

The project involves expansion of the existing two-lane stretch into four-lane and maintaining it for a period of 25 years, on BOT basis. IJM will receive a concession grant of Rs.99 crore from NHAI.

Background on IJM

IJM, Malaysia's fourth-largest construction company in terms of market capitalization, has construction projects in India, Argentina, Chile, Australia, Vietnam, China and Singapore.

But India - where it has been awarded 10 road construction projects including the Rajasthan highway - remains its biggest focus.

IJM is also building a 2,000-unit housing scheme costing Rs.280 crore in the southern Indian city of Hyderabad. It is scheduled for completion by 2007.

Besides, it is erecting an elevated viaduct for a section of the Barakhamba Road-Connaught Place-Dwarka rail line (part of Delhi Metro Railway Project) at a cost of Rs.140 crore, in joint venture with two other Indian companies.
