Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has reportedly completed the Rs 3,700-crore
capacity augmentation and product quality improvement projects at Haldia in
Midnapore district of West Bengal.
The over three-year-long investment programme in the refinery came to a close
on 26 February 2010 with the commissioning of the Rs 2,800-crore hydrocracker
unit.
According to sources, the capacity of the refinery has been ramped up by 25
per cent from 6 to 7.5 million tpa. Commissioning of the projects also enables
the refinery to supply Euro-IV grade auto-fuel, as per the National Auto-fuel
Policy.
Also, profitability of the refinery is likely to increase further once IOC
implements the proposed Rs 1,800-crore delayed coker unit.
