IVRCL Raipur-Bilaspur Tollways has roped in Mott MacDonald as design consultant for the planned Raipur-Bilaspur national highway project.
The new road will connect Raipur in Chhattisgarh to Chandikohole in Orissa, passing through areas like Bilaspur, Raigarh and Jharsuguda. The project is a part of NHDP Phase IV of the NHAI. The Rs 1,300 crore project envisages widening and strengthening the existing two-lane highway to a six / four-lane highway standards of Raipur-Bilaspur section of NH-200 (0.00 km to 126.525 km). The works will include design of four major and 19 minor bridges, a railway over-bridge, three flyovers, 22 vehicular and nine pedestrian underpasses, 172 culverts, 18 major junctions, 15 bus bays, two truck lay-bys, three toll plazas and 25km of retaining walls.
Mott MacDonald will be responsible for the engineering and detailed design of the project, which will facilitate transportation of raw materials like iron ore, limestone, dolomite, bauxite and coal to core industries thriving in the region. The stretch will also improve connectivity of industrially developing areas like Bilaspur, Raigarh and Jharsuguda.
