The Himachal Pradesh government, on 11
May 2006, signed an MoU with Chennai-based India Cements for setting up a 2
million tpa Chopal cement plant costing Rs.750 crore in Shimla district.
Nine Indian companies had bid for the
project, of which India Cements' won the contract. The plant will be based on
limestone deposits of Gumma-Rohana mines, 102 km North of Paonta Sahib.
