India Cements' won the contract
for setting up Chopal cement plant in Himachal Pradesh with an investment of
$200 million. The proposed project will have a capacity of 2 million tpa.
The Chopal cement plant will exploit the
limestone rich deposits of Gumma-Rohana region in Shimla district and experts
estimate the mountainous region has around 200 million tpa of limestone
reserves.
Nine Indian companies had bid for the project
which included:
- Gujarat Ambuja
- ACC
- India Cement
- Grasim
- Madras Cements
- JK Cement
- Penna Cement
- Shree Cement
An MoU for the project is to be signed soon with
India Cements and the plant will be set up in five years
