With the Noida International Airport set to begin operations later this year, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced that construction of the long-delayed cloverleaf interchange linking the Yamuna Expressway and the Eastern Peripheral Expressway (EPE) will commence next month.
The interchange is expected to ease travel for commuters from Palwal, Kundali, Panipat, Meerut, and Greater Noida, reducing the current 15-20 km detour via congested Pari Chowk and Kasna areas. The 11 km-long stretch, located near Jaganpur and Afzalpur villages, will feature four loops and four ramps. Construction is scheduled to start in August, with completion targeted within a year.
Originally awarded in 2019 to a Delhi-based contractor for Rs 75 crore, the project cost was revised to Rs 123 crore in 2023 after design changes. The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) will bear 21 percent of the cost, while NHAI will fund the remaining 79 percent. The contractor later demanded an additional Rs 22 crore citing increased earthwork expenses.
