The International Labour Organisation (ILO) has entered a contract with Bureau Veritas for providing engineering, case management and training support to Remediation Coordination Cell (RCC). The contract was signed at Six Seasons Hotel in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Bureau Veritas has been appointed by ILO to support the capacity of RCC of the Department of Inspection for Factories and Establishments to expedite ready-made garment (RMG) factories’ remediation works.
Under the agreement RCC will get 54 employees, including 34 engineers, to expedite remediation in the factories inspected under national initiative. The government had appointed 60 engineers in RCC in July 2018.
ILO is supporting the operations and capacity building of RCC and under its ‘Improving Working Conditions in the Ready-Made Garment Sector in Bangladesh’ programme. The programme is funded by Canada, the Netherlands and UK.
