The New Delhi based Jindal India Thermal Power Ltd (JITPL) has begun the
construction work of its Rs 5,961crore, 1200 MW (2x600) thermal power plant in
Angul, Orissa.
The pre-construction activities like construction of the boundary wall,
ground leveling and soil testing have already started and the core construction
activities are likely to start shortly.
JITPL has completed the land acquisition for the project as it has already
signed the lease deed for 240 acre of government and 793 acre of private land
with the state owned Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Orissa.
The company has achieved financial closure for the first unit which is likely to
be commissioned by September 2011.
The Ministry of Environment and Forest has accorded the environment clearance
for the project and a commitment has been received for supply of 40 cusecs of
water from the water resources department of the Orissa.
