JSW Energy has commissioned the first 80 MW unit of its 240 MW (3×80 MW) Kutehr Hydroelectric Power Plant in Chamba, Himachal Pradesh.
Power from the unit has started dispatch to the Haryana Power Purchase Centre (HPPC). The second 80 MW unit is synchronised with the grid and undergoing trials, while the final unit will follow shortly. The project is backed by a 35-year long-term PPA with HPPC for the full 240 MW at a levelized ceiling tariff of Rs 4.50 per kWh, with extension provisions.
The generated power will supply Haryana’s state utilities — Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam. This addition raises JSW Energy’s installed capacity to 1,471 MW hydro, 2,157 MW solar, and 3,562 MW wind, with renewables now making up 56 percent of its portfolio.
