JSW Energy is set to operationalise its five GWh battery assembly plant in Pune, Maharashtra, in the third quarter of FY26, supporting battery energy storage systems (BESS) and meeting domestic content requirements.
The development complements the company’s ongoing green hydrogen project at Vijayanagar, which has a capacity of 3,800 tonne per annum (TPA) and is nearing the completion of trial runs, with commissioning expected shortly. The company currently holds a locked-in storage capacity of 29.4 GWh, with 25.2 GWh already under storage agreements.
JSW Energy aims to scale its generation capacity to 30 GW and total storage to 40 GWh by 2030, positioning itself as a key player in India’s renewable energy and energy storage sectors while supporting clean energy transition initiatives.
