Motorists travelling from Andheri West to the Jogeshwari-Vikhroli Link Road (JVLR) will soon benefit from the first phase of the JVLR double-decker flyover, set to open by June 2026.
The project, overseen by MMRDA, aims to alleviate traffic congestion, particularly at the Veera Desai Road and Captain Suresh Samant Marg bottlenecks. Current delays can cause travel times of 30-45 minutes across a 3.7 km stretch. The 5.08 km flyover includes two parts: a 2.58 km double-decker flyover for vehicles and Metro Line 6, and a 1.557 km single-level flyover with a cable-stayed bridge crossing the Western Express Highway.
Phase 1, from Infinity Mall to JVLR junction, is expected to be ready by mid-2026, with Phase 2 due by March 2027. The flyover will provide uninterrupted, signal-free travel, dramatically reducing commute times for thousands.
