Jharkhand's first auto cluster, the Adityapur Auto Cluster (AAC), is set to be operational in the next couple of months. The project is being developed over 42 acre in the industrial estate of Adityapur, with an estimated investment of over Rs 100 crore.
Around 90 per cent construction work of one of the three components of the auto cluster project is completed. In Phase-I of the project, a hi-tech laboratory with research and development facility and a business development centre will start functioning partially, while a Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) is likely to be ready in the next three months.
Adityapur Small Industries Association (ASIA), had formed a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), the Adityapur Auto Infrastructure Company in 2008, with the aim of developing industrial infrastructure facilities in the Adityapur Industrial area in the Saraikela-Kharsawan district of Jharkhand. It was later rechristened 'AAC', with the purpose of implementing the project under the Centre's Industrial Infrastructure Upgradation Scheme (IIUS).
The Jharkhand Auto Cluster project was sanctioned in 2009 but was delayed due to lack of mandatory clearances from the departments concerned, including forest and pollution control.
The auto cluster is proposed to help around 1,000 auto-ancillary units to enter international markets with quality products.
