Jindal Stainless, India’s largest stainless steel producer, is set to double its slag processing capacity with the establishment of a new wet milling plant at its Jajpur, Odisha facility.
This move supports the company’s expanded operations and long-term commitment to circular production and resource conservation by enabling the recovery of valuable metals from industrial slag. The initiative is expected to create around 140 employment opportunities locally. In partnership with Harsco Environmental, a global expert in environmental solutions for the metals industry, Jindal Stainless will invest USD 150 million over a 15-year period. The plant is expected to recover metal value equivalent to the investment during the agreement's term.
This project is aligned with the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy and its Net Zero target for 2050. In FY25, Jindal Stainless reduced its carbon footprint by approx. 14 percent, driven by key sustainability initiatives like India’s first green hydrogen plant for stainless steel production and Odisha’s largest captive solar energy facility.
