Jyoti Ltd, on 17 July 2006, announced
that it won an order worth Rs.255
crore from a joint venture of Hindustan Construction Co and Nagarjuna
Construction Co for design, manufacture, supply, erection, commissioning,
operation and maintenance of 14 large pumps for Godavari Lift Irrigation
Scheme (Phase II) in Andhra Pradesh.
The project envisages lifting of water
from Godavari River near Gangaram Village to Bommakur through seven pumping
stations, the distance of about 150 km, with total lift of approximately 480m.
The project consists of 14 metallic
volute large pumps, two pumps at each pumping station, and allied
electro-mechanical works as follows:
- Eight Pumps are of 12.5 MW - 7
cumecs discharge capacity,
- Two Pumps are of 4 MW - 4.2 cumecs
discharge capacity
- Four pumps are of 3.5 MW - 2.5
cumecs to 3.0 cumecs discharge capacities.
The project envisions supply of 1,210
MLD water and is scheduled for completion by September 2007
The company has also entered into
technical collaboration with reputed engineering companies from Czech Republic
and formed a consortium for executing the proposed project as well as future
large irrigation projects:

up to 5 MW.

CKD Blansko Engineering - for Pumps
and Pump Turbines up to 30 MW.

CKD Nove Energo - for Large Rating
Induction & Synchronous Motors up to 30 MW.
Note: A consortium of
Hindustan Construction Co and Nagarjuna Construction Co in May 2005 had bagged
the Rs.1,887 crore EPC contract from the Andhra Pradesh state government to
execute the Godavari Lift Irrigation Scheme (Phase II). HCC has a 51 per cent
stake in the joint venture and its share in the total contract value is
Rs.962.37 crore.
