The 135-km long Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway (also known as Western
Peripheral Expressway), is likely to be delayed due to appeal pertaining to land
acquisitions pending before the Punjab and Haryana High Court.
The land acquisition is likely to facilitate changing of routes on the
National Highways as there are about ten changeovers planned on the entire
stretch of the expressway. Several petitions challenging the land acquisition
for the project on NH-1, NH-2 and Gurgaon-Pataudi road are pending before the
High Court.
With the land acquisition proceedings expected to be cleared by court soon,
the project is likely to be operational by December 2010 than the earlier
deadline of July 2010.
The project is being developed by KMP Expressway, a SPV comprising DS
Constructions, Apollo Enterprises, Madhucon Projects and Haryana State
Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation, on BOT basis. The
expressway is to have infrastructure such as parking lots, refilling stations,
police stations, trauma centre, refreshment centres and recreational facilities.
