The Kalindi Kunj bypass project has received approval from Unified Traffic and Transportation Infrastructure (Planning and Engineering) Centre (UTTIPEC) -- a body set up by Delhi Development Authority (DDA).
The 11 km long Kalindi Kunj bypass project has been undertaken by Public Works Department (PWD), Delhi. The bypass will connect the DND flyover, cutting across the Agra Canal along the Yamuna river, which runs perpendicular to Sarita Vihar and ends near Badarpur border, which further connects to Faridabad.
Out of the 11 km stretch, seven km will be elevated. The estimated cost of the project is Rs 200 crore and it will be undertaken in two phases. Phase-I of the stretch will be constructed from Maharani Bagh to Kalindi Kunj and Phase-II will commence from Kalindi Kunj and end at Faridabad.
The project was supposed to be completed in May 2003, but was delayed due to land acquisition issues.
