Kansai Nerolac Paints (KNPL) is set to invest Rs 98 crore to expand its production capacity at its Hosur factory in Tamil Nadu. Currently, the Hosur unit operates with an installed capacity of 15,500 tpm for paints, varnishes, enamels, powders, and resin manufacturing on a two-shift basis.
Spanning a 54-acre site, the facility employs approx. 700 people. The proposed expansion aims to increase the capacity to 28,140 tpm. This development is expected to generate employment opportunities for an additional 280 individuals.
KNPL, a subsidiary of Kansai Paint, Japan, currently operates eight factories across India, including the Hosur unit. Its diverse product offerings cater to home interior and exterior paints, mobility solutions, appliances, and infrastructure coatings. KNPL’s business is divided into a 55:45 ratio between decorative and industrial paint segments. The industrial segment contributes significantly to its revenue, with automotive coatings generating around 70 percent. With a dominant 58-60 percent market share in automotive coatings, KNPL continues to expand its customer base across various industries. Furthermore, KNPL has made substantial inroads into the electric vehicle (EV) segment.
