Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has approved the construction of an 80,000-seat, world-class stadium in Bommasandra, to be developed by the Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) at an estimated cost of Rs 1,650 crore.
Fully funded by KHB, the complex will host cricket matches alongside eight indoor and eight outdoor sports facilities, advanced gyms, training centres, swimming pools, hostels, guest houses, three-star and fivestar hotels, and a convention hall for international events.
The housing department has already secured 53 acres in Surya City, with negotiations underway for an additional 22 acres from private owners. Landowners will receive monetary benefits and developed sites as compensation. The project, expected to be completed within three years of commencement, will become the country’s second-largest cricket stadium after Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
