The Karnataka Cabinet has approved development projects worth Rs 3,400 crore, with districts in the Bengaluru division, including Kolar and Chikkaballapura, receiving a significant allocation of Rs 2,550 crore. Key decisions include renaming Bengaluru Rural district to Bengaluru North, and Bagepalli to Bhagyanagara.
Bengaluru City University will be renamed after former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh. “Cabinet meetings are being held across all revenue divisions to decentralise governance and address local issues with ‘therapeutic solutions’,” said the Chief Minister. In the Bengaluru division, Rs 50 crore has been allocated to develop hotel and tourism facilities at Nandi Hills. Chikkaballapura will get an international flower auction centre (Rs 10 crore) and a high-tech flower market (Rs 141.5 crore).
Kolar will see upgrades in Government colleges with Rs 40 crore and Rs 20 crore allocated for boys' and girls' colleges, respectively. Further, Rs 123 crore has been earmarked for Bengaluru North campus development, Rs 46 crore for upgrading a health centre, and Rs 21.40 crore for MRI machines.
