The Karnataka government plans to build a new IT City in Bidadi, located in the Ramanagara district (recently renamed Bengaluru South).
Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced the project, noting significant global interest with investors from 60 countries engaging in the Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025. He emphasized that Karnataka’s local talent, innovation, and startup ecosystem are key to driving the state's growth. "They are excited about investing in Bengaluru and we are supporting their investments in every way possible," Deputy CM Shivakumar said.
The IT City at Bidadi will be spearheaded by IT Minister Priyank Kharge and KEONICS head Sharath Bache Gowda. The project aims to leverage Bengaluru’s vast IT workforce, which includes 25 lakh professionals. Additionally, the government is considering extending Metro services to Tumakuru, exploring a public-private partnership model.
