Kerala's Power department has announced plans to allocate 50-60 acres of land near Vizhinjam Port for green hydrogen projects, part of a broader initiative to develop a regional hydrogen ecosystem.
The state aims to establish green hydrogen hubs for bunkering Green Methanol and Green Ammonia. The Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology (Anert) has been authorised to submit detailed proposals for these projects. As part of the Hydrogen Valley Innovation Cluster (HVIC) initiative, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram will serve as key hubs for hydrogen production, storage, and refuelling stations.
The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy approved the HVIC in July 2025. “Allocation of minimum 50-60 acres of land near Vizhinjam Port for the purposes of bunkering of Green Methanol and Green Ammonia will be identified in consultation with Revenue department for the installation of Green Hydrogen Hubs,” said the Power department.
