The Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has commenced work on the third phase of the Green Corridor, a project aimed at easing traffic congestion between the Cantonment area and Ayodhya and Kanpur roads.
The nearly five-km-long stretch will connect Pipraghat to Shaheed Path, providing much-needed relief to commuters. LDA Vice-Chairperson Prathamesh Kumar inspected the area and directed the construction of a 240-mtrs.-long, 12-mtrs.-wide railway overbridge at the Pipraghat railway crossing, which will be built once a no-objection certificate (NOC) is obtained from the Cantonment Board. In addition, VC Kumar instructed the widening of Dilkusha Road currently nine mtrs.wide to accommodate increased traffic once the corridor becomes operational.
The project will also include the construction of a four-lane bridge from Pipraghat to G-20 Road, with construction expected to begin within a week. Landfilling work is already underway along stretches from Pipraghat to Shaheed Path, and teh VC emphasised that the work must be completed before the monsoon. Affected farmers will be compensated with land in Wellness City under LDA's land pooling policy.
