Lalitpur Power Generation Company (LPGCL) inaugurated the first unit of its Lalitpur power project on 20 September 2015.
The first unit of 660 MW was the first major private project to be commissioned in Uttar Pradesh in the recent years. The unit is part of the 1,980 MW (600X3) super critical thermal power plant being set up at Mirchwara in Lalitpur district.
While the main plant package has been supplied by BHEL, the other suppliers were L&T, Simplex and Paharpur.
The worrying part is that at present, the company has secured only temporary coal supply to the power project and the long term coal linkage package is yet to be formalised.
