L&T-John Deere plans to double
its tractor capacity from 15,000 units to 30,000 units at its Sanaswadi unit in
Pune, with an investment of Rs.190 crore. The company has already invested
Rs.200 crore in setting this facility.
In 2004, the company expects to
achieve full capacity utilisation and by 2008, it plans double its capacity
further to 60,000 units. This is expected to cost around Rs.300 crore.
L&T-John Deere is a joint
venture between Larsen & Toubro and agricultural farm equipment
manufacturer, Deere & Company of the USA.
