L&T Metro Rail is likely to finalise the supplier of rolling stock suppliers
(rakes) for the Hyderabad metro rail project, by September 2011.
Currently, the company is holding discussions with around 12 rakes suppliers.
The companies include Bombardier, Siemens, Alstom etc. The deal is expected to
be valued at Rs 2,000 crore. The supplier may be expected to set up a local
unit. In the Phase I, the metro rail is likely to have 150 cars, which will be
increased to six per train from the initial three cars.
The ground work on the project is expected to start by end-May 2011.
