Hyderabad-based Lanco Infratech, in
assocation with the UK-based Globleq Singapore Pte, has won the bid for
the 4,000
MW ultra mega power project at Sasan in Madhaya Pradesh .
Lanco beat Tata Power, Reliance Energy
and NTPC by offering a price of Rs.1.19 per unit, for which the ministry had set
a benchmark of Rs.1.60 per unit. The company had raised around Rs.1,000 crore
from the equity markets to fund its power projects in October 2006 and some of
the IPO money may be used for funding the UMPP.
Tata Power Co. has emerged as the
lowest bidder for the
4,000 MW Mundra ultra mega power project with a tariff of Rs.2.26 per unit.
Other companies in the fray were Larsen & Toubro, Essar Power, Vedanta group
firm Sterlite and Adani Exports.
