The process of land acquisition for the six lane access-controlled Chennai-Bangalore expressway project has begun.
The expressway will come up on an area of 2,600 ha, with the total length of the greenfield project being 262 km.
The project has been undertaken by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at a cost of Rs 7,000 crore.
The procedure for land acquisition has already begun in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, where about 160 km of the road will run. The work of surveying the sites of both the states has already begun.
Besides, the consultant has completed a survey based on the maps provided by the Survey of India. Later, the details collected from the survey will be verified and authenticated by the Tamil Nadu, revenue department.
Also, NHAI is in the process of getting clearance from the National Board of Wildlife, for eight km of the expressway which will pass through seven km of the Royal Elephant Reserve in Andhra Pradesh, and also through approximately 300 mtr of the Mahimandalam forest in Vellore district of Tamil Nadu.
