The Vidarbha Irrigation Development Corporation (VIDC) is implementing the Lower Wardha Irrigation Project worth Rs 3,651 crore.
The Lower Wardha, a major irrigation project on river Wardha in the Godavari Valley will have an irrigation potential of 51,655 ha, irrigable command area of 44,150 ha, live storage capacity of 7.66 TMC and water utilisation capacity of 9.79 TMC.
The canal system comprises a 44 km Left Bank Main Canal and branch canals aggregating to a length of 57 km. In addition to the irrigation potential, the project will provide water supply to Pulgaon, Rohna, Tiwsa, Anjansinghi, Warah Kurha, Pimpalgaon and Dhamangaon besides Dhamangaon industrial area.
As per latest information available with Projects Today, construction of dam has been completed and work on canal and pumping station is still underway. The project is expected to be completed by end of March 2020.
